![]() It’s because of the fact that I’m protecting my brand and then protecting the people in the cast and I want them to have the best time possible. Because if moderation action has to be taken against somebody, it’s not personal. The hardest thing is probably dealing with people who make things personal. The8BitDrummer: It’s hard to find a negative about it. What’s the hardest thing about live streaming? I love it and I want to do it for as long as I can.” “It’s straight up a dream come true to be able to do this for a living. I’m talking to people who I’ve looked up to for a very long time. And the fact that both of them can collide and people enjoy watching what I do and I’m able to make a living off of this from people’s generosity is ridiculous. I’ve always loved games and stuff like that. It’s like a dream come true, to be honest, because I’ve always loved music. Streamlabs: Did you ever think you’d be creating content full time. So it was like one of those crossroads that went perfect together. ![]() It just happened to be at the same time as the music section had opened up on Twitch. And it just worked out really well after I got everything kind of working. I had no sound on my first stream, which, you know, is very detrimental to a music base cast. But it came with like a little effects processor, and I just plugged my drums into it and a friend of mine told me about twitch, and I was like, you know, I want to give it a try. So I’m just like, wow, that was a waste of money. But pro tools never worked on my old laptop. They had a drum kit and I was just like, you know what, I kind of want to make music. But I ended up at the church at the youth group that I was at the time. I wouldn’t call it full-blown depression, but it was pretty darn close. I had just broken up with a long term girlfriend at that time. The8BitDrummer: So I started live streaming because I really wanted to do something to get myself out of an iffy situation that was in. Streamlabs: How did you first get into live streaming? So that’s basically where the name came from. Like that’s literally all I listened to and yeah, I like drumming. I’m a huge connoisseur of video game music. But yeah, it just comes from my love of video games, video game music. Like I had no online presence really whatsoever. And that was like maybe two and a half years before I even started streaming or anything online. I didn’t know I was going to do anything with it. ![]() So I ended up making the Twitter account, Instagram, stuff like that, which I barely used at that point in time. And I’m just sitting there by myself because I am so out of place at this concert. The8BitDrummer: I was actually at a concert with my sister for her birthday. Where did the name The8BitDrummer come from? I go by The8BitDrummer online and I’ve been streaming for, I think four years and one month now if I’m not mistaken. ![]() "I did way way too much research, and the book was at one point more than three times as long as it is now. "My job ends up being more helping them to figure out what of those worlds - that they've spent sometimes years constructing before they've even gotten to one of my creative writing classes - how do you take that world and figure out how much of the world to share in service of the narrative that you're trying to tell?"Īs Jemc wrote early drafts of the book, the world she'd pieced together was a bit much. Jemc is a professor of creative writing at UC San Diego, and said many of her students are already skilled at building the worlds around their writing, something she partly attributes to film and immersive role-playing video games. And I think that it's apt for these two figures who are really - especially Ludwig - who almost saw his life as a play he was living out," Jemc said. It can feel a little bit twee or like it's trying to make this fairy tale of the world. "Wes Anderson's eye for detail in his set building and in his world building - even though they're often very real settings in his films, it can feel kind of precious. "I hadn't quite really thought of Wes Anderson, but it makes sense," Jemc said. When asked about the cinematic, almost Wes Anderson-like cheekiness and satire to the book, Jemc said that when working on the tone of the book, she was more drawn to movies like Sofia Coppola's, "Marie Antoinette." While Sisi didn't particularly display a penchant for mothering, she strongly resented her mother-in-law and fought to bring the children closer to her - without necessarily having a plan in place. This tension is seen in Sisi's contentious relationship with her mother-in-law, the Archduchess Sophie, who controlled the care of Sisi's children. "She struggled with the amount of control that was exerted over her." "Her primary job was just to produce heirs - it was a challenge for her to produce heirs - and to be seen by the public, and she didn't appreciate having to just be a pretty face to put on the Empire," Jemc said. But when she married Emperor Franz, she had to fit into the conservative Habsburg Empire. I think that is one of the core things that people should know about him, that there's this essence to his character that he is denied from making public or from following through in a way that is ever ultimately satisfying to him," Jemc said.Įmpress Sisi had an idyllic childhood spent freely in nature. ![]() "He had romances with men throughout his life, even though he needed to keep them a secret. Jemc said that Ludwig had to hide the fact that he was gay from the public eye. Ludwig long displayed a strong interest in art and beauty rather than matters of state, and was known for his obsession with composer Richard Wagner. "If someone came to help him put his pajamas on at night or bring him his tea in the afternoon, and they weren't absolutely beautiful, he would pretend like they weren't even in the room with him," Jemc said. "For the most part, a lot of the outrageous things that happen in this book are based in reality," Jemc said.Īn example: when Ludwig was a child, he refused to be attended by unattractive servants. Jemc said she "imagined" herself into their lives, but those lives offered up plenty of source material. The book is classified as fiction, though the characters and much of the plot is real. "Things only got weirder and more surprising." "I was really intrigued by these two people who were not quite doing what was expected of them, and had all of these dramatic details filling up their lives," Jemc said. She began researching more about his life and family, and was similarly struck by his cousin (and friend) Empress Sisi. Jemc was first introduced to the story of Ludwig's life and death when she visited Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria, Germany. Sisi, or Elisabeth, became Empress of Austria in 1854 and ruled until her assassination in 1898. Ludwig reigned from 1864 until his suspicious death in 1886. The book chronicles the wild and messy rise and fall of two cousins, King Ludwig II and Empress Sisi. ![]() These voxels do have a certain artistic style to them, and the aesthetic choice to give them sharp edges was made intentionally and called out explicitly, i.e., "8-bit". As far as I'm concerned, Magica Voxel is both truly voxel and truly awesome, IMO.Īlvy Ray Smith's paper is great, but how to handle sampling is a different subject completely from whether the scenes are volumetric, which they are. I've worked in medial imaging, written more than one volume renderer and used used many more than that, for both games and research. Six square polygons enclosing a space is surely just as 'voxel' as meshes generated by marching cubes for medical imaging. Maybe the issue is the texture you're talking about, but I haven't seen any textures in any of the galleries, other than the few examples that render mesh edges in addition to the cubes. The data in the file is specified as volumetric samples. ![]() The size of them has absolutely nothing to do with it, and never has. After that we will create a custom color palette for painting voxels based on the original model’s texture. Then you will import the 3D model into the MagicaVoxel editor using the built-in mesh to voxel converter to make a voxel model. Enable 'Match' to automatically match the pattern palette to the scene palette. Load the asset project as a pattern library. Voxels are "volumetric cells" just like pixels are "picture cells". To convert a 3D model into voxels you must first export your 3D model as the. New Pattern Library Panel (Star icon on the right panel) Create (or import) all assets in a single project. I'm a bit confused about what distinction you're trying to make, or how this project represents a change in the meaning of the word 'voxel'. Once GPUs came out with hardware-accelerated triangle rasterization, voxel engines died.įor more information about point-sampling, see this classic paper, "A Pixel Is Not A Little Square":Īnd for a more in-depth discussion of sampling, albeit in one dimension, watch Chris Montgomery's video "Digital Show and Tell": Ok, so, first step: Get the Voxel editor. They used voxels because with the hardware they had, this was the most realistic rendering they could achieve. MagicaVoxel is the main program I use for Voxel editing because it is fairly easy to use, and it can export files in all different types. Note that they were not using voxels because they had a certain artistic style to them. Here are some videos of what we used to call voxels: ![]() Texturing is achieved by having many voxels with different colors/materials. What I call a voxel is much smaller (on the order of a screen pixel), and drawn as a point sprite or screen-facing quad with a single color. Pixels are point samples without shape or texture. Right, my objection to the textured cubes is that they are not the volume equivalent of a pixel. … Now, if you have been convicted of a DUI in the last seven (7) years (this was changed from five years in 2019), or if you are over the age of 21 and have a passenger … Note that this is different than the national rule that provides a right to a jury trial for crimes that are punishable by six months in custody or more.
![]() Writing about it does not do the program justice. The uses for the projects are only limited by your imagination. The projects you can produce can be used for posters, gifts, yearbook pages, postcards and more. As I said earlier, if you don’t see a template you want, you can use the blank template.ĭespite the drawbacks I mentioned above, Posterino is a great program. As I was working on this review, an update to Posterino was released which included even more templates. Some have text fields for titles, while the postcard templates have a stamp space that you can drag and drop an image into. Of course, most people will not have a poster sized printer and will have to take the file to a printing service but for those projects that are smaller, it would be nice to be able to print directly from the program. Therefore, you’d have to export to iPhoto or a file and use another program for printing. One of the downsides of Posterino is that you can’t print directly from the program. Posterino will render the poster, and when finished you have a choice of emailing the image, saving it to the hard drive, or sending it to iPhoto. Once finished laying out the project you make your poster. Instead of quickly dragging and dropping images you want to use, you have to make a graphic space for them. ![]() This gets really annoying when you are making a project with the blank template. You have to use the add graphic button to make a place holder. An annoyance here is that the drag and drop from the iPhoto window will not work. If you want to add a picture to the image that does not have a prearranged space you can add those too. The only drawback is that you cannot use the arrow keys for nudging photos to get them perfect. This is a great way for making photo collages. ![]() Once there you can move the photos around the border of the space and resize them in the space to get it just right. You can also drag and drop from the Finder. The window gives you access to your iPhoto library and your Pictures folder. A media window similar to the one in iLife and iWork allows you to drag and drop photos into these spaces. The templates have what I would describe as drop-in spaces or place holders for each image. The program easily adjusted the template. I tried a long and narrow poster of 35 x 18. If you do not see the size you need, you can enter your own dimensions and the templates will adjust to the new size. Once the layout is made on the blank template, you can save the template to use again later. You can also make your own layout with a blank template. To start a project in Posterino you select one of the pre-made templates and you select a size. If you can import the image file into iPhoto, you can use it in Posterino. The projects you work on can be as simple or as complicated as you want. Posterino is a program for making photo collages, photo postcards, and more. Posterino is a great program, and at a price of $24.95 it is definitely affordable.Īt first glance, Posterino looks like a Print Shop/Photoshop type of program, but it isn’t. I like it even more when the programs are great programs and affordable. If you read my reviews on a regular basis, you know that I love finding art and design programs by smaller companies. ![]() Madeline (daughter of The Count and Velma): Lucille 2 Austero (from Arrested Development): Lindsay Funke (from Arrested Development): Kevin Love (NBA player for Cleveland Cavaliers): Here is my list, in alphabetical order.Īnna Crossing (daughter of Villager and Stella):Īnnyong / Hel-loh Bluth (from Arrested Development):īaker Mayfield (NFL player-QB of the Cleveland Browns):īuster Bluth (from Arrested Development):Įlly / Elhaym Van Houten (from Xenogears):Įmily (daughter of Popeye the Sailor Man and Lucille 2): Choose 'Scan QR Code' and then hold your 3DS or 2DS up to your computer monitor (or tablet or phone) so that the QR code shown lines up with the dotted outline shown on your 3DS.
